Technical Excellence, Employable Graduates
The aims of our curriculum are to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed by good engineers, computer scientists and health professionals to be able to progress in to the best career opportunities in the engineering, computer science and health fields both locally, regional, and nationally. The intention is that a significant element of the curriculum focuses on the core skills needed to succeed in these areas; these are literacy, numeracy, engineering and computer science technical skills and professional values and employability skills.
Our industry partners, through participation and investment in Scarborough UTC, directly influence the calibre of UTC graduates, both in terms of the quality of skills entering the market, and the number of young people that aspire to enter the engineering and cyber industries.
Ensuring that the development, in our students, of appropriate professional values and employability skills alongside industry relevant technical skills is integral to the UTC curriculum and is enhanced through profound employer engagement as an integral part of planned curriculum delivery.
Scarborough UTC’s most powerful outcome from its unique approach to the development of knowledge, skills and understanding in our students is the destinations that these young people progress into. Providing our partners with a steady flow of appropriately skilled and qualified ‘employable graduates’ will ensure that parents and students alike will see the UTC as the education provider of choice in the region and our employer partners will benefit from UTC graduates that are well prepared to take up key roles in their businesses.
